Denver Broncos rookie running back Jonah Coleman was placed on injured reserve Saturday with an ankle injury he suffered in the team's Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Coleman already had been ruled out of Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams. The IR move means he will miss at least three additional games.
A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the injury is a high ankle sprain and Coleman is expected to return when first eligible, Oct. 25 against the Arizona Cardinals.
For now, it leaves the Broncos without the player who had been the back of choice in their game-clinching drive against the Jaguars. The fourth-round pick had 33 of his 39 rushing yards on the final possession when the Broncos ran out the final 4:41 of clock.
