Tottenham Hotspur have signed Mykhailo Mudryk on a season-long loan from Chelsea, the club has announced, with sources telling ESPN the north London club have an option to make the move permanent for £75 million ($101.37m).
The 25-year-old has been followed through the door at Spurs by his former Chelsea teammate Tosin Adarabioyo after Spurs agreed a fee of around £7 million for the defender.
Mudryk's move was announced around an hour before Tosin's and so the Ukrainian became the first player to move between the rival clubs since Carlo Cudicini swapped Stamford Bridge for White Hart Lane in 2009.
Mudryk and Tosin are Spurs' ninth and 10th signings of a window in which they have spent close to £400m on the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Sávio.
"It's a great feeling. I can't wait to start training and playing for the club, and I'm so excited to be reunited with Roberto De Zerbi," Mudryk said in a club statement announcing his arrival.
"I'm a player who brings speed and creativity, and I want to help in both the offensive and defensive areas. I want to make the fans excited.
"I can see it's a strong squad here with good players, and I'm looking forward to sharing a pitch and special moments with them."
Mudryk spent 20 months away from competitive football after returning an adverse urine sample, but was cleared to play again in July after the Football Association and the World Anti-Doping Agency reached a resolution on his case.
The move for Mudryk -- who last played a competitive game for Chelsea in November 2024 -- comes after Tottenham tried to sign Everton's Iliman Ndiaye and Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, with the former joining Manchester City instead and the latter looking likely to stay at Anfield.
Mudryk, who signed for Chelsea for £85 million ($115m) in January 2023, previously played under Spurs head coach De Zerbi while at his former club, Shakhtar Donetsk.
"Having worked with Misha earlier in his career, I know exactly what he can bring to our team," De Zerbi said.
"He has the quality to change a game with his speed and ability in one-vs-one situations, and is an exciting, attacking talent.
"I will demand a lot from Misha and it is our job to help him find the best version of himself. If we do that then he can become a very important player for us. I am very happy he chose to come here, and I cannot wait to work with him again."
