Raptors making Kyle Lowry's 7 their second retired number

The Toronto Raptors will retire the No. 7 jersey of Kyle Lowry, who will join Vince Carter as the only two players in franchise history to have their numbers added to the Scotiabank Arena rafters.

The Raptors announced Thursday that Lowry's number would be retired after their game Jan. 10 against the Philadelphia 76ers, his hometown and the team for which the point guard played the final two-plus seasons of his career.

Lowry, 40, signed a one-day contract with the Raptors on July 7 -- the 7/7 date a nod to his jersey number -- and announced his retirement after a 20-year NBA career.
