Hull City have signed Senegal defender Nobel Mendy from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano for what the newly promoted Premier League club said was a club-record transfer fee.
The Tigers have not disclosed the fee for the 21-year-old but it exceeds the reported £20 million they paid for Greece goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis last week.

Mendy, who has one international cap and previously played for Paris FC and Real Betis, has signed a five-year deal, with an option for a further 12 months.
"I have wanted to play in the Premier League since I was little, so it's a great challenge to face and I am ready for it," Mendy told Hull's website.

Mendy's previous stop came at Real Betis, where he was also part of the squad that reached the Conference League final in 2024-25.
He made his debut for Senegal in a friendly against Gambia in March.
Hull also completed the signing of 18-year-old Australia defender Lucas Herrington on a five-year deal.
Herrington arrives from Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids, who he only joined in January from Australian club Brisbane Roar, having appeared for his country at the World Cup.
He told Hull's website: "I'm buzzing to be here. It's a great project and a great club to be a part of.
