IRVINE, Calif. -- Buffalo Bills veteran edge defender Bradley Chubb shared his side of the story two days after taking a punch from Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Alaric Jackson in the moments following the Bills' overtime win on "Monday Night Football."
"I'll tell you exactly what I said," Chubb told reporters Wednesday at the practice facility on UC Irvine's campus, where the Bills are practicing this week ahead of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders. "I've heard I was talking about his mom. That's not true at all. I said, 'We're gonna see y'all's ass again. And when we see you again, all that chipping ain't gonna save you. That tight end and guard is not going to save you.' He said, 'What'd you say?' I said, 'That chip's not gonna save you. The guard's not gonna save you.' And then boom."
Chubb acknowledged that he initiated the conversation. As video of the incident shows, Jackson was in the middle of a jersey swap with Bills defensive tackle Deone Walker when Chubb caught his attention.
Chubb said one of the things that caught his ire was a perception that the Rams were "front-running." Put another way, Chubb said he felt the Rams' trash talk started to intensify only when they thought they were going to win the game. After Bills defender Greg Rousseau blocked the Rams' overtime field goal attempt to tip the game's odds back toward the Bills, the tenor changed.
