Erling Haaland spoke of his pride after Manchester City claimed victory amid a hostile reception at Anfield.
In their first match since the club were found guilty of multiple breaches of Premier League financial rules, City, who have appealed against the ruling, defeated 10-man Liverpool 3-0.
City's players were booed throughout but thrived in the atmosphere, with Haaland scoring the first of three quickfire goals after Ryan Gravenberch was sent off midway through the second half.
The reaction at the end was one of jubilation from everyone in City blue, with Haaland spending several minutes soaking in the celebrations of the visiting supporters.
He told Sky Sports: "For every single fan, this is a lovely moment which will stay with us for a long time when it comes to the feeling after the game and in the game.
"It was tough and it was hard, but we showed amazing character. I'm so proud of everyone."
Midfielder Elliot Anderson hailed City's courage, adding: "I think we've shown real togetherness and fight.
"It's a tough place to come and it's challenging and we really stuck together out there, fought for each other and played well as well. I think we've shown courage here."
Asked about the booing from Liverpool fans, Anderson added: "It was definitely more than normal, arriving in and the first 10 minutes of the game, but I thought we did really well to quieten the crowd."
Haaland, though, argued it was not that different to a regular game at Anfield, saying: "Not really, it's always tough to come here.
"With the Pep [Guardiola] and [Jürgen] Klopp era, it was so tough for both teams.
"It's about these times, stay strong mentally, stick together and do what you can do something about, and what we can do something about is to play good football and to fight together."

For former City defender Micah Richards, the players came up with the perfect response to everything that has been piled on them since the news broke.
"All they could do was play football to the best of their ability," he said.
"When you're in a dressing room and there's accusations gone in, to the players -- and it's not the club, it's the players who are getting a lot of the abuse -- they wanted to go there and put on a show. That's exactly what they did today.
