RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks plan to sign veteran running back Joe Mixon to their practice squad as long as he passes his physical, sources told ESPN.
Coach Mike Macdonald confirmed Monday that Mixon worked out for the Seahawks, and that he'd be joining their practice squad if the team signs him.
"Joe worked out this morning and he's going through the process right now," Macdonald said.
Mixon, 30, was released in March by the Houston Texans after missing the entire 2025 season due to a foot injury. In 2024, he rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning him Pro Bowl honors in his first season with Houston.
Rookie Jadarian Price, the Seahawks' top running back and first-round pick, will miss at least three more games after he was placed on injured reserve Saturday with a chest injury. During his pregame radio interview on Seattle Sports 710-AM, Seahawks general manager John Schneider said Sunday that while it's not clear how long Price will be sidelined, the team doesn't "see it as a season-ending thing at all."
