Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton is expected to return before the end of the season after he suffered a serious ankle injury in the fourth quarter of his team's 30-27 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
After extensive tests Monday, Thornton is expected back within 12 to 16 weeks from his dislocated left ankle, sources told Rapoport. Thornton will undergo surgery on the ankle this week, and the Chiefs hope he can return by the end of the regular season or the playoffs.
The injury came after he made a key 55-yard catch. Thornton, a four-year veteran, was forced to exit Allegiant Stadium on crutches.
