The Denver Broncos received some good news on both star cornerback Pat Surtain II and wide receiver Pat Bryant as MRIs taken showed both avoided worst-case scenarios, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Surtain suffered a noncontact ankle injury Sunday in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers, going to the ground and grabbing his right foot and ankle until the Broncos' medical staff arrived. He was helped to the locker room by Broncos personnel and didn't return for the second half.
The 2024 Defensive Player of the Year, Surtain is the key to the Broncos' defensive game plan each week, but sources say it's expected to be a short-term injury.
