NEW YORK -- Serena and Venus Williams will play doubles on Friday night at the US Open, for the first time in four years. Their opponents? Maya Joint -- whom Serena lost to at Wimbledon -- and Hao-Ching Chan.
Serena and Venus lead off the primetime slate at Arthur Ashe Stadium in their quest for a 15th major doubles title. They are the only tandem to win all four major tournaments and multiple Olympic gold medals, according to ESPN Research. The two were slated to play doubles at Wimbledon, but Serena tweaked her knee in her loss to Joint and had to withdraw from the tournament.
