Hull City have condemned the racist abuse directed towards new signing Robinio Vaz on social media.
The 19-year-old forward joined on a season-long loan from Roma on transfer deadline day, with a number of X users writing derogatory comments under the post which announced his arrival. The post has since been deleted.
Hull called the abuse "abhorrent" and said in a statement: "No individual should ever experience discriminatory abuse, and the club will provide Robinio with our full support.
"Hull City has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of discrimination and in the last 24 hours, we have been in communication with the Premier League, anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out and the relevant social media companies.
"We are also working with Humberside Police and other relevant authorities to identify the accounts responsible for this disgusting abuse, so that appropriate action can be taken against those individuals."
The Frenchman was one of six arrivals at the MKM Stadium on deadline day with the Tigers signing 18 players in total for their first Premier League campaign since 2017.
"We are delighted that Robinio has joined our Hull City family, and we know our supporters share our excitement to watch him in action at the MKM Stadium," the statement added.
"We stand with Robinio and encourage all supporters to continue to report any form of discrimination."
The forward's loan deal includes an option to make the transfer permanent.
Hull, who have won their first two Premier League matches of the season, are next in action at home against Aston Villa on Saturday.
