Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has said that he doesn't like to take to the pitch in training, preferring to oversee his sessions from the sidelines.
The 45-year-old was asked in an interview with Sky Sports whether he ever features in midfield at Carrington.
"No," he smiled. "I genuinely haven't missed playing and I don't really have an urge to get involved in training either.
"I think the odd time I've had to do it, maybe. Not so much now.
"Time's passed too long where I'm not at the stage where when... The first year or two you can maybe get away with it. But I think you've kind of got to move on and play your role."
Carrick spent 12 years as a player at United, playing in midfield alongside the likes of Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher.
In his final year at the club, Carrick captained the side following the departure of Wayne Rooney.
"The boys [in the current squad] don't want me hanging around trying to get involved, trying to say 'This is what we used to do, lads, and this is how you do it,'" Carrick said.
"I don't think that works. I know where my role is now, and it's very different to that, and I'm quite happy with that."

United's midfield underwent significant remodelling during the summer transfer window, as Casemiro departed and the club brought in Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Brighton, Chelsea and Aston Villa, respectively.
Captain and midfield stalwart Bruno Fernandes was once again crucial as Carrick's side recovered from a humbling 2-0 defeat at Hull City on the opening day to beat Ipswich Town 5-2 on Sunday.
They will travel to Everton on Sunday in a match which sees Carrick face off against his former manager at United, David Moyes.
