NEW YORK -- The broad smile on the face of Carlos Alcaraz said it all. He is back.
After four and a half months away with a serious wrist injury that took him out of the French Open and Wimbledon, the 23-year-old looked almost as if he had never been away, as he wrapped up a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over world No. 99 Roman Safiullin on Monday to reach the second round of the US Open.
