Fantasy football managers need all the help they can get with the frenetic pace of a draft and/or salary cap setting. Preparation is key, and one of the best ways to organize for success is to utilize a positional tiered system to find the so-called peaks and valleys of the available player list. Group players by expected production and distinguish where the talent -- really, the value -- drops off, then capitalize on limited supply versus demand.
Prepare. Attack. Exploit. Command. Win.

Simple rankings fail to discern how much better -- or more valuable -- one player might be from the next. A fantasy manager nearing his or her fourth-round pick sees a jumble of choices and must make a decision in a short amount of time. A tiered system might reveal one wide receiver left in a certain tier, compared to a crew of three or four at running back. Pick the wide receiver.
Perhaps the most critical part of any tiered system is that the decisions are yours. Oh sure, one analyst's tiers at wide receiver appear below (here is that same analyst's RB tiers), but these are your fantasy teams. Participate in myriad mock drafts, study and analyze however it is you study and analyze, look forward and not backward, recognize what you believe should determine the order for rankings and tiers. Then, dominate your drafts.
Check out all of the tiered rankings: QB | RB | WR | TE
Tier 1: Early first round
1. Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals 2. Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams 3. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks 4. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions
Some might quibble with the order, as Nacua outscored the others last season, or whether St. Brown belongs in this section, but these four players have distinguished themselves properly. Chase and Nacua are worthy No. 1 overall selections.
Tier 2: Rounds 1/2
Question marks start earlier than usual at WR, as Lamb has missed several games in consecutive seasons, Jefferson had no chance with his quarterback play in 2025 and London might have difficulty with quarterback play this year. Still, few can argue the talent within this group.
Tier 3: Round 2
9. Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints 10. Garrett Wilson, New York Jets 11. A.J. Brown, New England Patriots 12. George Pickens, Cowboys
