In a 12-team league, the talent pool gets shallow quickly. Players you can wait on in a smaller format, such as a 10-team league? Those guys come off the board much earlier with two extra picks per round. And that matters when building your overall draft strategy.

For example, if you usually wait on quarterbacks and tight ends -- which is a defining aspect of my personal draft philosophy -- you need to be prepared to jump in quicker at both spots. That tight end I usually grab in the 11th or 12th round of a 10-team format? He's gone when you have 12 teams drafting. In this mock, a total of 17 tight ends and 19 quarterbacks were taken by managers who intend to stream them or prefer to secure their bye week and injury options now rather than count on the waiver wire later.
And the same can be said for your late-round adds, such as a rookie wide receiver or a potential sleeper at the running back spot who just needs an opportunity to burst onto the scene. With two more teams in the mix? Don't get caught sleeping. Even your dart throws in the 13th and 14th rounds start to lean out.
